LYNX to .+SDL CONVERTER This program will convert a standard Lynx (.LNX) file to a Self Dissolving Lynx file. This is a lot handier than having to use the Lynx Dissolve+4 program. There are a few restrictions in that you will not be able to convert a Lynx of over 100 disk blocks in length and this program will only run on the Plus/4. The program will prompt you for the name of the Lynx file that you want to convert. Just enter the name of the file, WITHOUT the .LNX suffix. Then you will be prompted to enter the name that you want the converted file to have. There are many versions of C64 Lynx, some of them will not convert. Try it anyway. If you've used the +4 Lynx maker it will be okay. The program will then write a new self-dissolve header to the original Lynx program and create a .+SDL suffix to identify it as a +4 Self Dissolving Lynx. You can now copy or transfer it to any disk that you want. NOTE: When the new program is written to your workdisk, the directory is rewritten a bit different than normal. It creates a "parallel" header with the old program. You will note that the disk Blocks Free count will only reflect the creation of the new header. So, if you scratch a .+SDL or the Lynx file... be SURE to Validate (COLLECT) the disk. This will ensure that the directory will be cleaned up. If you copy the newly created .+SDL file to another disk, the block count will be correct. To dissolve the .+4SDL, simply LOAD and RUN it. Be sure that you have enough free disk space for it to dissolve into. The original file will not be erased.
